LG Twins pitcher Son Joo-young became the first pitcher to win a game against “Jamsil rival” Doosan since his debut.

Son started the game against Doosan at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul on March 31 and pitched 5⅓ innings, allowing one run on three hits with two walks and one strikeout while striking out four. LG won the game 6-3 and Son was the winning pitcher. 

Prior to this game, Son had lost two games in two starts against Doosan this year. His career record against Doosan was 3-3 with a 7.71 ERA. In his fourth career meeting with the “Jamsil Rival,” he earned his first win against Doosan.  

With a 3-0 lead in the third inning, a walk and a bunt put runners on first and second with no outs, and a sacrifice fly put runners on second and third. After allowing just one hit through five innings, Son gave up back-to-back singles to Ramos and Jeong Soo-bin in the sixth to put runners on first and second with no outs. Yang grounded out to first base and turned the ball over to reliever Kim Jin-sung. Kim struck out Yang Seok-hwan and got Kang Seung-ho to ground out to first base to end the threat. 

After the game, Son spoke about his game plan, saying, “I trusted Dong-won because he's my brother. I lost two games to Doosan, but it was the Jamsil derby, so I had this feeling that I had to win with energy, so I pitched harder and stronger.” 

Son threw 92 pitches, including 49 fastballs, 19 sliders, 18 curves and six forkballs. His fastball maxed out at 148 mph and averaged 145 mph. He threw his curveball effectively. Son Joo-young said, “I told Dong-won that I wanted him to use a lot of curveballs, and I thought he was going to go for a lot of fastballs and sliders. He didn't throw a lot of curveballs in the first inning, so I analyzed it and threw a lot of curveballs.” 

“The curveball has been feeling a little bit better in the last 토토 two or three games, so I want to use it a little bit more because I feel like I had a good feel for it last year,” he added.

He did a good job of shutting down Doosan's top hitter, Yang Ji-hyeon. He faced him three times and retired all three. In the sixth inning, he got a grounder to first base with runners on first and second.  Son Joo-young said, “I was a little late with my fastball, so Dong-won and I were competing with each other with fastballs, so I was a little careful with my fastball. I tried to throw it a little harder to Yang Ji, and I tried to throw it a little more perfectly, and I think it worked out well,” said Son. 

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning with a 6-2 lead, things suddenly became tense. “I was a little nervous. The Samsung Lions snap a two-game losing streak with a come-from-behind win.

Samsung improved its record to 40-1 with a 6-4 win in the 10th game of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League against the Doosan Bears at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul on Monday.

On the mound, starting pitcher Won Tae-in got off to a quality start with six innings of five hits (two home runs), two walks, four strikeouts and three runs. He left the game with the loss on the line, but the bats came through in the late innings to save the day.

The bullpen also stepped up. Woo Kyu-min closed out the seventh inning with one hitless inning, followed by Lee Jae-ik and Kim Tae-hoon, who pitched ⅔ and ⅓ innings of scoreless relief, respectively. Closer Oh Seung-hwan gave up back-to-back singles to Kim Jae-hwan and Heo Kyung-min to put runners on second and third, but minimized the damage to earn his 16th save of the season. His final score was one run on two hits in one inning.

At the plate, Koo Ja-rook and Jose Pirela, the core of the team, led the offense with back-to-back 2-hit games, including a home run. Kim Dong-jin also went 2-for-4 with a home run and a run scored, while table-setters Kim Hyun-jun and Kim Sung-yoon did their part with a combined 먹튀검증 1-for-5. "In the batting lineup, we had a frustrating flow in the first half of the game in terms of the opponent's starting lineup, but we were able to focus in the second half and win the game to end the losing streak," he said.

"Our center fielder, Pirela, has been hitting well, so I'm looking forward to his future," Park said. "Finally, I think Ryu Ji-hyuk's stolen base in the ninth inning decided the game. I would like to praise both his reading of the game and his boldness."

Samsung will try to win the series with David Buchanan starting on the 10th. However, it is unclear if the game will be played due to the impact of Typhoon No. 6, Kanun.
